Greentown Liu’an Xiaofeng ,Kunming

Greentown The Willow Shores is located in Kunming, Yunnan province, China, a city with plateau regional characteristics and multi-ethnic cultures (also known as Spring City). In this long and narrow base with a depth of only 52 meters and a length of about 132 meters, what the designer most expects to do is "healing". Through the structure of the courtyard, the understanding of the scenery of Yunnan province will be integrated into the community, so that the residents of the community can return to their own comfortable state of physical and mental relaxation.

The designer has cleverly used the form of the "three rooms and six transepts under the flower hall" of Yunnan's classic folk houses to combine the flower hall with the courtyard, which not only increased the fun of walking, but also established a barrier connecting the inside and outside. Through the progressive courtyard forms and the opening and closing of the space, with trees and skylights, a space system is created that develops the big in the small where there is courtyard within a court.

Entrance—preserve the ecology of original forest

The entrance is hidden in a native dense forest. The designer cleans up the ground with low intervention to facilitate access to and from the site, maximizes the preservation of the original ecology of the site, forms a partly hidden and tranquil urban interface, establishes an equal dialogue between the base and the city, and retains the primary warmth of the site.

When visitors go up the stairs and turn around, the sloping roof promenade and the metal mesh further reduce the brightness at the bottom, creating a stronger sense of inside and outside for the suddenness after a turn and the natural atmosphere of the flower hall. It is like a porch, connecting gloom and light.

Flower Hall — By skillfully using the structure of residential buildings and the light of the plateau

When entering the flower hall, visitors can feel the elegance after the cutting of the courtyard while walking. Through the raising and lowering of the ground level, every entry and exit has a rhythmic flow; at the same time, the body and materials have a light touch during the alternation of courtyards and the retraction of vegetation canopies.

In the face of the strong plateau light, the designer introduced the light at different times into the courtyard through space cutting, and created a calm and elegant style of the courtyard with the help of trees, ground covers, and polygonal paving.

Courtyard — Translation of Plateau Red Soil

In the central courtyard, the designer also retained the peripheral original forest, saving resources while maintaining a small-scale ecological balance, and effectively shielding the buildings and noise outside the wall. Simultaneously, 16 hackberry trees were planted to reflect the interior and exterior, as if the primary forest was introduced into the atrium, and the gentle hills covered with moss imitated the lushness of the mountains and the tranquility of the forest infiltrated into the garden, creating a small square pond in the style of Ni Zan's painting.
